Neste contexto, coloca-se naturalmente a quest\u00e3o fundamental de saber como funcionam ambos os sistemas de travagem e quais s\u00e3o as suas vantagens e desvantagens.<\/p>\n<h2>Trav\u00e3o de tambor: simples e eficaz<\/h2>\n<p>Os trav\u00f5es de tambor s\u00e3o trav\u00f5es de fric\u00e7\u00e3o simples. O tambor em si \u00e9 facilmente identific\u00e1vel, especialmente nas <a href=\"\/motocicletas\/\">motas<\/a>; \u00e9 simplesmente um grande <a href=\"\/produtos\/cubos-de-roda-11522\/\">cubo de roda<\/a>. O tambor tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 concebido de forma semelhante num autom\u00f3vel, mas \u00e9 menos vis\u00edvel devido \u00e0s <a href=\"\/produtos\/jantes-de-liga-metalica-206\/\">jantes<\/a> montadas no cubo da roda. No interior do tambor, encontram-se dois <a href=\"\/produtos\/maxilas-de-travao-1140201\/\">cal\u00e7os de trav\u00e3o<\/a> com um revestimento. Ao travar, estes dois cal\u00e7os de trav\u00e3o pressionam o tambor a partir do interior. O refor\u00e7o interno refere-se ao efeito pelo qual a roda pressiona contra as pastilhas de trav\u00e3o. Desta forma, os cal\u00e7os dos trav\u00f5es absorvem parte das for\u00e7as de rota\u00e7\u00e3o, pelo que \u00e9 necess\u00e1rio exercer menos press\u00e3o sobre o pedal ou a alavanca do trav\u00e3o. O trav\u00e3o de tambor tem ainda a vantagem de estar protegido das intemp\u00e9ries. A humidade ou a lama n\u00e3o reduzem o desempenho dos trav\u00f5es. Al\u00e9m disso, ao contr\u00e1rio dos trav\u00f5es de disco, o p\u00f3 abrasivo dos trav\u00f5es n\u00e3o se deposita nas jantes.<\/p>\n<h2>Substitui\u00e7\u00e3o das pastilhas dos trav\u00f5es<\/h2>\n<p>Uma das desvantagens do sistema \u00e9 o processo relativamente longo e complicado de substitui\u00e7\u00e3o das <a href=\"\/produtos\/pastilhas-de-travao-1140102\/\">pastilhas de trav\u00e3o<\/a>, que requer a abertura do tambor. Se os cal\u00e7os dos trav\u00f5es n\u00e3o estiverem apoiados uniformemente, o desempenho da travagem \u00e9 irregular. O resultado t\u00edpico \u00e9 que o carro se desvia da trajet\u00f3ria durante a travagem. Os trav\u00f5es de tambor tamb\u00e9m tendem a desgastar-se, uma vez que a dissipa\u00e7\u00e3o de calor \u00e9 relativamente dif\u00edcil. O resultado \u00e9 uma diminui\u00e7\u00e3o da pot\u00eancia de travagem durante as travagens sucessivas.
