Sem eixos e engrenagens, n\u00e3o seria poss\u00edvel uma transmiss\u00e3o de pot\u00eancia eficiente. De facto, a necessidade de lubrifica\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 menor do que no motor, mas continua a existir. No motor, s\u00e3o sobretudo os cilindros e os pist\u00f5es que necessitam de uma pel\u00edcula de lubrifica\u00e7\u00e3o permanente para que nunca se toquem. A \u00e1rvore de cames, que roda frequentemente em rolamentos hidrodin\u00e2micos, tamb\u00e9m necessita de press\u00e3o de \u00f3leo suficiente.<\/p>\n<p>Na caixa de velocidades, n\u00e3o s\u00e3o tanto as engrenagens que necessitam de uma lubrifica\u00e7\u00e3o especial, mas sim os rolamentos dos veios da caixa de velocidades. Uma das vantagens da conce\u00e7\u00e3o da caixa de velocidades \u00e9 o facto de poder ser imersa em \u00f3leo. Ao contr\u00e1rio do motor, n\u00e3o \u00e9 necess\u00e1ria uma bomba de \u00f3leo para fornecer lubrificante suficiente. Isto \u00e9 especialmente problem\u00e1tico para o motor quando arranca a frio, uma vez que o \u00f3leo demora algum tempo a chegar aos pontos de lubrifica\u00e7\u00e3o importantes. Al\u00e9m disso, nenhum res\u00edduo de combust\u00e3o chega ao \u00f3leo da transmiss\u00e3o, uma vez que n\u00e3o tem qualquer liga\u00e7\u00e3o com as c\u00e2maras de combust\u00e3o. Se a caixa de velocidades estiver selada, tamb\u00e9m n\u00e3o entra humidade no lubrificante. Por isso, poder-se-ia supor que nunca seria necess\u00e1rio mudar o \u00f3leo da transmiss\u00e3o. No entanto, este facto n\u00e3o \u00e9 confirmado pelos especialistas.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"O_oleo_de_transmissao_tambem_envelhece_e_o_seu_poder_de_lubrificacao_diminui\"><\/span>O \u00f3leo de transmiss\u00e3o tamb\u00e9m envelhece e o seu poder de lubrifica\u00e7\u00e3o diminui<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>O \u00f3leo de transmiss\u00e3o tamb\u00e9m sofre algum desgaste. Isto deve-se ao processo natural de envelhecimento, mas tamb\u00e9m \u00e0s for\u00e7as de cisalhamento que actuam sobre o \u00f3leo da transmiss\u00e3o. As engrenagens que est\u00e3o engatadas \u201cmoem\u201d as mol\u00e9culas de \u00f3leo de cadeia longa dos lubrificantes sint\u00e9ticos modernos at\u00e9 certo ponto. Isto reduz a viscosidade do \u00f3leo. Em termos pr\u00e1ticos, isto torna o \u00f3leo mais fluido, pelo que a sua lubrifica\u00e7\u00e3o se deteriora sob carga pesada. A fric\u00e7\u00e3o aumenta e, consequentemente, o consumo de combust\u00edvel e o desgaste. Al\u00e9m disso, esta deteriora\u00e7\u00e3o da lubrifica\u00e7\u00e3o pode afetar a mudan\u00e7a de velocidades.<\/p>\n<p>Um sinal t\u00edpico de que o \u00f3leo da transmiss\u00e3o precisa de ser mudado \u00e9 uma relut\u00e2ncia em engrenar a primeira ou a segunda velocidade. No entanto, deve ter em aten\u00e7\u00e3o que a falha da caixa de velocidades tamb\u00e9m pode ter outras causas, como uma liga\u00e7\u00e3o de controlo defeituosa ou mal ajustada. Este \u00e9 um fen\u00f3meno bem conhecido em alguns modelos. Neste caso, o \u00f3leo deve ser mudado, o mais tardar, ap\u00f3s 80.000 km. Os modelos mais recentes, em particular, utilizam frequentemente o chamado \u201c\u00f3leo de caixa de velocidades para toda a vida\u201d. Os fabricantes afirmam que este \u00f3leo n\u00e3o precisa de ser mudado durante toda a vida \u00fatil do ve\u00edculo. No entanto, deve ter em conta que os fabricantes esperam que o \u00f3leo dure entre 8 e 12 anos, consoante o tipo de ve\u00edculo. Atualmente, a maioria dos autom\u00f3veis est\u00e1 operacional durante mais tempo do que isso. Ap\u00f3s este per\u00edodo e se o autom\u00f3vel ainda estiver em funcionamento, \u00e9 essencial substituir o \u00f3leo da transmiss\u00e3o. Normalmente, esta substitui\u00e7\u00e3o custa cerca de 50 euros para uma caixa de velocidades manual.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Mudanca_de_oleo_mais_cara_para_as_caixas_de_velocidades_automaticas\"><\/span>Mudan\u00e7a de \u00f3leo mais cara para as caixas de velocidades autom\u00e1ticas<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A situa\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 diferente para as transmiss\u00f5es autom\u00e1ticas. Por um lado, as instru\u00e7\u00f5es do fabricante s\u00e3o claras. Por outro lado, a mudan\u00e7a de \u00f3leo de uma caixa de velocidades autom\u00e1tica \u00e9 mais complexa. N\u00e3o \u00e9 poss\u00edvel drenar todo o \u00f3leo da caixa de velocidades simplesmente desapertando o buj\u00e3o de drenagem.
