Os autom\u00f3veis modernos est\u00e3o equipados de s\u00e9rie n\u00e3o s\u00f3 com airbag para o condutor, mas tamb\u00e9m para os passageiros. Muitos at\u00e9 t\u00eam airbags laterais. Mas ser\u00e1 que estes airbags protegem realmente?<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Como_e_que_um_airbag_funciona\"><\/span>Como \u00e9 que um airbag funciona?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Em caso de colis\u00e3o, dois sensores de acelera\u00e7\u00e3o accionam o airbag. Para evitar uma falsa ativa\u00e7\u00e3o, ambos os sensores independentes t\u00eam de comunicar uma colis\u00e3o. O sistema de controlo analisa ent\u00e3o os dados transmitidos e decide se e quais os airbags ou tensores de cinto devem ser acionados. Em seguida, um gerador de g\u00e1s insufla os airbags em 20-50 milissegundos. Para garantir este processo mesmo em caso de falha de energia, como acontece frequentemente em acidentes, a unidade de controlo tem um condensador interno. Desta forma, o airbag pode proteger o condutor mesmo sem uma fonte de alimenta\u00e7\u00e3o externa.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Mas_ate_que_ponto_os_airbags_sao_realmente_fiaveis\"><\/span>Mas at\u00e9 que ponto os airbags s\u00e3o realmente fi\u00e1veis?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Um grande estudo realizado pelo clube autom\u00f3vel alem\u00e3o ADAC, em coopera\u00e7\u00e3o com o Instituto Alem\u00e3o para a Seguran\u00e7a dos Ve\u00edculos (Institut f\u00fcr Fahrzeugsicherheit) e o Instituto Federal Alem\u00e3o para a Seguran\u00e7a Rodovi\u00e1ria (Bundesanstalt f\u00fcr Stra\u00dfenwesen), analisou 700 acidentes na Europa. Em combina\u00e7\u00e3o com os cintos de seguran\u00e7a e os tensores dos cintos, os airbags reduzem em um quarto o n\u00famero de feridos graves e mortais em acidentes frontais. O fator decisivo para aumentar a seguran\u00e7a \u00e9 a intera\u00e7\u00e3o entre o sistema de cintos de seguran\u00e7a e o airbag.
